Unplanned road trips, soul/jazz music, movies and cuddles over turn up, wine and good company. I find so much joy in the simple things in life. But if there’s one thing that really has its way with my soul. It has to be Mother Nature. God really took his time making her. I always feel this strange euphoria whenever I’m deep within her embrace. At times I find myself staring into the mountain overlooking my bedroom window thinking to myself, ‘how can something so simple have the power to bring about so much emotional bliss?’ I understand some of you reading this may not relate. Well people find joy in different things…

A couple of weeks ago I decided to visit the Johannesburg Botanical gardens. It used to be a tradition of mine to go there on Sunday afternoons last summer just to recollect and unwind, but I hadn’t been there in ages because of the cold season. Everything looked different… like the colour of the green grass that had faded into yellow. However there was one thing that stood out for me amidst the rest. The colour of the leaves from the trees that lined up alongside the path that leads to the dam area. They were oozing with warm red colours, which looked rather magical when they danced around in the winter breeze. As some of the leaves fell alongside the pathway into piles of fallen leaves, the inner child in me refused to contain itself and so I decided to have some fun.

Don’t ever grow up, it’s a trap

There’s so much beauty that nature provides that no man ever could and the thought that there’s so much more to discover gives me great pleasure.

If travelling was free, you’d most probably never see me again…

  1. Reading this I’m reminded of a qoute by Lord Byron that says “There is pleasure in the pathless woods, there is rapture in the lonely shore, there is society where none intrudes, by the deep sea, and music in its roar, I love not Man the less, but Nature more.”…the beauty of nature is unmatched, it’s truly is the Art of God.

P.S Your inner child seems to have enjoyed its self a lot.

  2. I know exactly how you feel. I’m always spazzing out over how beautiful nature is. I could ramble about it all day. I find it weird that not everyone feels the same way. I think that’s sad because it’s like free joy all around us. The leaves on the tress are beautiful. Being in Florida, we rarely get to see trees without their leaves since we barely have a winter, so even that is beautiful to me.

    1. People should take the time to appreciate mother nature. They don’t realise what a huge role she plays in our health. I’ve never been to Florida before. But I’m sure I’d love it. I’ll put it on my ‘someday’ list along with all the other places I’d love to someday visit
